Hello!

I'm Phoebe Zaranski, a costume designer with a dual B.S. in Fashion Design and Business Communication from Stevenson University. I've loved costumes and dressing up for as long as I can remember. I someday hope to make it into the film industry as a Costume Designer, but am simply an opportunist at heart. Whether it's designing posters for the film club at school, or taking extra art classes, I never pass up an outside-of-the-box opportunity to create art!

MY STORY
I am finishing my studies, set to graduate in May 2025 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Fashion Design and Business Communication. I have been building on my fashion career since junior year of high school in 2020 and am always looking for ways to get involved in the industry. I partook in the Textile and Fashion Design program at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center, where I learned how to design, tailor, and construct ensembles. During my career at Stevenson, I not only have made special occasion ensembles for myself but have also worked closely with the Film and Moving Image department on eight projects as a Costume Designer. Working with budgets anywhere from $250 to $3,000, I always strive to bring life to each character. From shopping for ready-to-wear costumes, dying, distressing, or embellishing, I always work closely with my director and key them in on my creative process. No matter the project, I am always experimenting with new ways to perfect my craft and continue my skills on to the next opportunity.
Creating something that is both unique and appropriate is always my top priority; something that will stand out yet correlates with the occasion. I understand the importance of fine details and how deeply they can impact the overall aesthetic and fit of the finished product. I consider myself an opportunist and will strive for challenge no matter the art-related opportunity. Alongside taking a wide variety of art classes, I am not afraid to think outside of the box and cross-correlate skills from other areas I have experience in. Whether I’m using wood carving skills to create foam armor, or using photography skills to dye textiles for film, I’m always incorporating my knowledge in new and appropriate ways.
