"The Outsider" is a montage-based, avant-garde, experimental short film concept loosely based upon HP Lovecraft’s 1926 short story of the same name. Lovecraft’s original tale tells the story of a man, imprisoned for years in a castle tower, yearning to escape to the freedom of the outside world. However, when he does eventually find his way to freedom, he discovers that he has been so hideously twisted and disfigured by his time alone in the darkness of the castle that he is no longer accepted as a member of society. Everywhere that he goes, he is met with horror, and, upon looking into a mirror, he finds that he can no longer even stand the sight of himself.
