For Halloween 2023, I wanted to redesign the Monster High doll Draculaura into a
Victorian-esque costume.

CREATING A MOOD BOARD
I've discovered that I am the most inspired when turning something into my own design. Monster High Dolls heavily influenced my love for fashion today, and I wanted to explore a different facet of bringing their fashion styles to life.

CREATING A TREND BOARD
Long drapes, circle skirts, netting, and cages were a heavy influence on this ensemble.

DRAFTING PATTERNS IN CAD
Since I recently took a class on CAD, I wanted to experiment with designing my patterns in Illustrator (much more accessible than doing it from scratch on paper).

Through this project, I learned how to source my inspiration. I originally was going to dress as Ash from "The Evil Dead" in making a one-for-one costume recreation. I found that costume design was the most inspiring for me when I can implement my own design choices into the ensemble.
