DIO HALLOWEEN COSTUME
For Halloween 2021, I wanted to dress as a character from my favorite tv show, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure". Choosing Dio, since I thought it would be fitting the dress as a vampire for Halloween, I pushed myself to experiment with new mediums and creating an oversized silhouette.

CREATING A MOOD BOARD
Since JoJo's Bizarre Adventure takes place in the late 1880's, I researched historical clothing as well as Dio cosplayers to draw inspiration for style and adaptations of 2D animation.

SKETCHING AND PLANNING
As per my research, I wanted to recreate the leg of mutton sleeves and oversized riding pants from the late Victorian era, and ensured to capture that in my reference drawing.

Through this project, I got to experiment different ways of adapting a character to real-life clothing. Learning how to work with foam armor was incredibly useful and opened up a world of possibilities for my future costumes. Learning how to research period-specific clothing is necessary for accuracy, and being able to experiment with stylizing period-specific clothing was incredibly useful as well.
