THUMPER: A PHOTO ESSAY

In my photo essay, I wanted to explore what makes something a home. To me, home isn’t a specific building, but it is what you do and make with that building so that it’s comfortable. My sister’s pet rabbit, Thumper, has made her entire bedroom his home. He scatters his toys across the floor, shares different pieces of furniture with her, and runs free, sharing her entire room. For example, he likes to hide under the bed skirt of her bed during the day because he likes darker spaces. While she sleeps in her bed, he uses it as his own resting place. I wanted my photos to capture a full story in the day of his life, being able to show the physical space he calls home while interacting with the space to make it his home. I tried to use a shallow depth of field to emphasize Thumper and show how self-centered he is. I used a slower shutter speed in a few photos to show how fast he is to change his mind. Things to showcase his personality to try and convey how he interacts with his home.
