PRINCESS PEACH DRESS
For my Draping class at Stevenson University, I was prompted with creating a dress for my final project. Given the free parameters, I wanted to create something in line with my passion for costuming. I was inspired to redesign Princess Peach's dress in a more casual way so that I could have a fun time dressing up to go see the Super Mario Movie.
MY PROCESS
01
CREATING A MOOD BOARD
I drew a lot of inspiration from babydoll-style dresses as well as Princess Peach's hyper-femininity. Light, airy construction and a cute aesthetic were propellers for my vision.

02
SKETCHING AND PLANNING
After five rounds of sketching out ideas, I finalized my design with a puffy shape to indicate the multiple layers I would need to create while draping.

TAKEAWAYS
Through this project, I learned the importance of researching and experiementing with different construction methods. I am always very attament about achieving my desired aesthetic, so even though I redraped the skirt three times, I now have the skills to adapt my new knowledge to future projects that require bountiful volume.
