AUNT DONNA
MY PROCESS
01
THE DIRECTOR'S MOOD BOARD
Director Treasure McCorkle defined Donna, Marilyn's aunt, as "'bougie, posh, very chique and fashionable...but also, middle aged. Looks good for her age. Nurturing, but will always speak her mind. Dresses to impress".

TAKEAWAYS
Through this project, I learned the importance of researching historical clothing and finding online stores that have equivalent clothing. There are a lot of different types of clothing from the 50s, and different circumstances they would be worn in. It was important to me that the clothing, by themselves, could convey the time period. Since 50's clothing isn't easily accessible, I had to be able to adapt by searching for historical clothing websites and go thrifting for the proper costumes. This further extended my specialty in adding symbolism throughout my costumes. Using the polka dots against Dwight's pinstripes taught me to weave an element of storytelling throughout everyone's costumes.
